Sunny Side Up Psychotherapy accepts several major insurance plans through Alma, including Optum, United Healthcare, Oscar, Aetna, and Cigna for both in-person and telehealth therapy sessions. Before your first appointment, we'll verify your mental health benefits to determine your exact coverage, copay, and any deductible requirements. For clients with other insurance providers, we offer superbills for potential out-of-network reimbursement. We recommend contacting your insurance company directly to ask about "out-of-network mental health benefits" and "reimbursement rates for licensed professional counselors" to understand your coverage options.

What happens if I need to reschedule or cancel my therapy appointment?

Life happens, and we understand that schedules sometimes change. At Sunny Side Up Psychotherapy, our cancellation policy requires 24 hours' advance notice to avoid being charged the full session fee ($150). You can easily reschedule or cancel by texting, calling, or emailing—whichever method is most convenient for you. For appointments canceled with proper notice, we'll work with you to find an alternative time that fits your schedule. True emergencies are handled compassionately on a case-by-case basis. Consistent attendance promotes therapeutic progress, so we encourage maintaining your regular appointment schedule whenever possible.

How long are therapy sessions and how often will we meet?

Standard therapy sessions at Sunny Side Up Psychotherapy last 55 minutes, whether conducted in-person at our Plano office or online via secure telehealth platform. For most clients, we recommend starting with weekly sessions to build momentum and establish a strong therapeutic relationship. As you progress toward your goals, we may adjust to biweekly sessions. The overall duration of therapy depends on your specific needs—some clients benefit from 8-12 focused sessions, while others working through complex issues may continue therapy for several months or longer. We'll regularly evaluate your progress together and collaboratively decide on session frequency that supports your mental health journey.

Is my information confidential when I contact Sunny Side Up Psychotherapy?

Yes! Understanding that many clients have demanding work schedules, Sunny Side Up Psychotherapy offers flexible appointment options, including evening sessions until 7:00 PM Tuesday through Thursday and limited Saturday morning appointments. These extended hours are available for both in-person therapy at our Plano location and virtual sessions throughout Texas. Evening and weekend slots are in high demand, so we recommend booking these times 2-3 weeks in advance when possible. Our telehealth options provide additional flexibility, allowing you to connect from your home or private office space during lunch breaks or after work hours without commuting to our physical location.
